VISA (Virtual Instrument Software Architecture) is an industry-standard I/O API. It can be used to develop I/O applications and instrument drivers that are interoperable with many other VISA applications from many vendors, and that comply with www.ivifoundation.org standards.

This help file is a snapshot for internal alpha of the first Linux-supported release; some topics are under construction.
The reference information for Keysight VISA is organized into the following major sections.

VISA User’s Guide - Describes the Keysight VISA library and shows how to use it to develop I/O applications and instrument drivers on Windows PCs.

VISA Function Reference - Lists the Keysight VISA functions and provides brief descriptions of their usage.

VISA Attributes - Describes attributes for the VISA template and supported Keysight VISA Resource Classes, including INSTR, MEMACC, INTFC, BACKPLANE, and SOCKET.
- VISA Library Information - Describes VISA type definitions, VISA error codes, and VISA directories, with additional information on using VISA in Visual Basic and in Microsoft .NET languages. (See these sections for OS-specific support.)

Keysight VISA that ships with Keysight IO Libraries Suite 2024 provides support for Revision 5.7 of the VISA specification which is available from the www.ivifoundation.org.
