Cannot Access Remote Interface

Problem:

You cannot access devices on a remote GPIB, remote USB, or remote serial interface that was previously functional.

Probable Causes:

  • The remote I/O server or gateway hosting the remote devices may be turned off or disabled.

  • The configuration of the interface on the remote PC may have changed in a way that requires the Remote IO Server software on that PC to be restarted.

Suggested Steps:

  1. Ensure that the remote PC or gateway to which the devices are connected is turned on.

  2. Ensure that the Remote IO Server software is running on the remote PC or gateway.

  3. Stop the Remote IO Server software on the remote PC or gateway, then restart it.

More Information:

If the SICL interface ID or logical unit of a shared GPIB, USB, or serial interface is changed on a remote I/O server, that interface cannot be accessed remotely until the Remote IO Server software is stopped and restarted.
