Keysight Devices Not Recognized by National Instruments Software
Problem:
Your Keysight Technologies devices or interfaces are not recognized by National Instruments (NI) I/O utilities, or by software developed using National Instruments tools (such as LabVIEW).
Probable Causes:
GPIB Devices
- If you are operating Keysight VISA in side-by-side mode with National Instruments VISA on a 32-bit Windows system, or running a 32-bit program on a 64-bit Windows system, you may not have enabled the Passport for Tulip, a software module that translates between the two VISA implementations.
- If the software in question uses the NI-488.2 API for instrument communications, you may have disabled the automatic routing of API calls to Keysight 488 and NI-488.2.
Suggested Steps:
If you are operating Keysight VISA in side-by-side mode with National Instruments VISA, and you are running 32-bit programs, you must enable the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip. This is a software module included with NI-VISA for support of Keysight hardware, and is not enabled by default. Use the NI Measurement and Automation Explorer (NI MAX) to enable the Passport for Tulip; in version 5.5 of NI MAX, you do this by clicking Tools > NI-VISA > VISA Options, then Passports, and then selecting the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip check box. Click Save to save your settings, then click Refresh. (You must refresh MAX for your changes to take effect.)
