IO Monitor or Other Trace Programs Capture Too Many Messages
Keysight IO Monitor or other similar utilities (such as National Instruments I/O Trace) monitor, log, or display too many messages.
Problem:
You see many messages in a monitor utility such as Keysight IO Monitor or National Instruments I/O Trace. This traffic appears in Keysight IO Monitor as messages from the program IolsIOServer.exe with the source SICL or SICL Detail. It may appear in other utilities as calls to ibfind and ibask.
Probable Cause:
The Keysight Instrument Discovery Service generates SICL messages when scanning for instruments and interfaces. This traffic appears in Keysight IO Monitor as messages from the program IolsIOServer.exe with the source SICL or SICL Detail.
Suggested Steps:
- If you are using Keysight IO Monitor, turn off the options to monitor and display SICL and SICL Detail. (If you are logging to a file, IO Monitor logs only the messages you select under Monitor Messages in the Options dialog box.)
- If you are using a utility other than Keysight IO Monitor, you may be able to reduce the number of messages by turning off the Connection Expert auto-discovery and auto-scan options for your GPIB interfaces. To do this, select a GPIB interface from the list at the left. Turn off (uncheck) the Auto-Discover and Auto-Scan options, if available. Do this for each GPIB interface connected to your system. You will still see some SICL messages related to the periodic scan for new interfaces.
