Using Keysight Interface Hardware with Other Vendors' Software
This section contains information specific to the Windows product.
National Instruments (NI) supports the use of Keysight GPIB cards, USB/GPIB interface converters, and VXI devices with their NI-VISA software. There are some configuration steps you need to take to make these system configurations work.
-
For NI software to recognize Keysight hardware (except for the E5810; see below), you must enable the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip. This is a software module included with NI-VISA for support of Keysight hardware, and it is not enabled by default.
-
For GPIB card configuration, see Configuring a Keysight GPIB Card for Use with National Instruments VISA.
-
For configuration of the Keysight 82357, see Configuring a Keysight 82357 USB/GPIB Interface Converter for Use with National Instruments VISA.
-
You do not need to enable the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip to use the Keysight E5810 LAN/GPIB Gateway with NI software. Because the E5810 uses the VXI-11 protocol, the NI software recognizes it with no special configuration.
-
If you have installed both Keysight GPIB interface hardware and NI-488.2 (or another vendor's compatible software) on the same system, and you are programming with (or running programs that employ) NI-488.2, Keysight 488, or another vendor's compatible 488 library, then you must enable the Keysight 488 library as described in the Keysight 488 Help.
-
You do not need to install National Instruments' NI-VXI in order to use NI-VISA to talk to Keysight VXI interfaces. You only need to enable the NI-VISA Passport for Tulip, as described above.
