This help system contains information on the PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite. This application provides easy access to instrument control, data collection, and data analysis for your Precision Source/Measure Units.

The specific features and functionality available in this application will vary depending on the instrument and model number. Some of the parameters and functionality described here might not be available for a particular instrument. The application will show only those parameters and parameter ranges available for your specific instrument.

Software Licensing

Keysight's flexible licensing options allow you to select the license type and license terms that best fit your software needs. To use the PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite, you will be required to purchase a software license. For more information on purchasing and installing a software license, see Software Licensing Options.

To evaluate a PathWave application, you can apply for a free 30-day license. After the trial period expires, you will be required to purchase a software license for that application.

PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite Features

The PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite requires either of the following license:

  • PW9251A – PathWave IV Curve Measurement Software
  • PW9252A – PathWave Advanced Power Control and Analysis
  • PW9253A – PathWave Advanced Battery Test and Emulation
  • PW9254A – PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite Bundle License

API Functions

An application programming interface (API) is available that lets you directly program the supported instruments, without using the application.

This function is only available for the following applications.

  • Power Control and Analysis
  • Battery Test and Emulation

You can access the API Help files that describes the API functions from the Start menu on your computer.

You can also access the API Help files from the following installation directory.

  • Power Control and Analysis:

  • Battery Test and Emulation:

Graphical Overview of PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite

To introduce you to the user interface elements of the PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite, we have created a graphical overview below. Although the specific configuration properties vary by the instrument model number, the primary elements of the applications will be the same.

1 Selects the PathWave application: Power Control and Analysis, Battery Test and Emulation, or IV Curve Measurement.
2 File menu.
  • Power Control and Analysis - Load a trace, save/load an instrument state, and specify user preferences.

  • Battery Test and Emulation - Save/load an instrument state, and specify user preferences. See File Menu.

  • IV Curve Measurement - Reset all settings, save/load an instrument state, and copy channel and advanced channel settings. See File and Option Window.

  Options menu. Opens the feature specific options menu.
 

Opens the Information and Technical Support menu to view the Help system and technical support information.

3 Start All starts the application on all channels.
Stop All stops the application on all channels.
4 Selects Scope. Data Logger, CCDF, or ARB functions of the Power Control and Analysis application.
5 Selects Battery Emulator or Battery Viewer functions of the Battery Test and Emulation application.
6 Selects Channel Preview or IV Curve functions of the IV Curve Measurement application.

Offline Trace Opens a selected trace file for the Power Control and Analysis application. Includes Scope trace, Datalog trace, and CCDF trace.
Export exports the selected trace information in the Power Control and Analysis application, and the battery viewer file in the Battery Test and Emulation application.

8 Minimize minimizes the application window.
Maximize maximizes the application window
Close closes the application.

Select Instrument opens the Instrument list to select an instrument to connect. Once the instrument is selected, it will appear in the instrument list.

10 Displays the messages generated by the PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite.
11 Collapse Panel closes the left window panel.
Expand Panel opens the left window panel.
12 Shows whether any instrument is connected to the PathWave Advanced Power Application Suite.

Should network communication issues occur, the instrument settings shown in this application may not represent the actual state of the instrument. This may result in unexpected hazardous voltages on the output and sense connections that could result in personal injury, death, or damage to a device under test. Before touching the output or sense connections, or connecting to a device under test, always verify the state of the instrument.
