Displayed Average Noise Level Performance Test

This test applies to the following models:

UXA N9041B models will also run a separate test on Input 2.

Displayed Average Noise Level (DANL) tests the average of the displayed noise. To measure DANL, the signal analyzer’s input is terminated with a 50 ohm load. The analyzer is placed in zero span, and the trace data is averaged by summing all 1000 trace points and dividing by 1000. The resulting number is normalized to 0 dB input attenuation by subtracting out the attenuation setting. The result is then normalized to 1 Hz Radiant Bandwidth (RBW) by subtracting out the value of 10 x LOG(RBW). If the DUT has the preamp option, additional testing is performed with the preamp on. All tests are performed in DC-Coupled mode.

If the signal analyzer contains Low Noise Path (LNP) option, Full Bypass Path (FBP), or Microwave Preselector Bypass (MPB) option, the test is repeated for these paths.
