Second Harmonic Distortion Troubleshooting

Failures when the source frequency is less than or equal to 1.8 GHz are usually a low band path problem. Suspect the A13 Front End Assembly or something between the input connector and the Front End assembly.

Lowband measurements are performed with an external low-pass filter in the signal path. The low pass filters are used to reduce the second harmonic of the signal source. If the analyzer fails at < 1.8 GHz, the filters may be suspect.

Failures when the source frequency is greater than 3.6 GHz are usually a high band problem. Suspect the A12 YTF or something between the input connector and the YTF assembly. See the MXE Service Guide for troubleshooting information.
