Prerequisite Procedure for Adjustments

Before adjustments can be run, a prerequisite procedure must be performed. This is necessary so that the N7828A application can communicate with the VXG over the LAN.

The procedure involves copying a set of files included in the N7828A installation from the host PC (the PC where TME is installed) to the VXG and running a Windows service program (called Dingo Module Service) in the background while performing adjustments. The files are included with the N7828A application package.

There are two methods for copying the files from the host PC to the VXG and running the program:

The thumb drive method is easiest because when the adjustments are complete, you simply remove the thumb drive from the VXG. With the remote desktop method, you will need to remote back into VXG to delete the files after adjustments are complete.

Procedures

Follow the steps below to copy the files and run the service program.

  1. Exit PathWave

On the VXG, exit the PathWave software by selecting the menu and then Exit M9384B.

  2. Copy the files to the VXG

The files are in a folder called GondorConfig located in the N7828A application's Tools directory:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Agilent TME\N7828A\Tools\GondorConfig

Copy the entire GondorConfig folder to the VXG using either a thumb drive or by using Remote Desktop to connect to the VXG.

If using remote desktop, be sure to copy the files to a root directory on the VXG such as C:\GondorConfig. If using a thumb drive, keep the files on the thumb drive's root directory.

The directory location will need to be entered in the Select Configuration window when creating an order.

  3. Start the Dingo Module Service

    1. Navigate to the GondorConfig folder location and open the DingoModuleService folder.

    2. Locate the executable file: DingoModuleService.exe. Right-mouse click and select Run As Administrator. The program MUST be run in administrator mode.

The service will run in the background in a Windows Command Prompt window.

  4. Stop the service and delete the files

Once finished with running adjustments, stop the service by closing the Windows Command Prompt window and delete the files from the VXG if using remote desktop or remove the thumb drive from the DUT if that was used.
