Rise/Fall Time Peak Path Performance Test

This test applies to the following models:

  • P-Series Power Meters:

    N1911A

    N1912A

    N8262A

This test determines Rise/Fall Time performance by sampling a train of pulses with very fast rise/fall times, combining these results to create a single pulse (using an equivalent time sampling algorithm), and then analyzing this pulse to obtain the DUT characteristics.

The power meter must be power-cycled on completion of this test. Failure to do so may cause the instrument to stop responding to commands sent via GPIB.

  1. Do not mix models; use either two of the 81131A or two of the 81132A. Only standard 81131A or 81132A modules are supported. Modules that have options (e.g. 81131-FG) are not supported.

  2. When using this cable with the 81160A pulse generator, use short BNC cables and adapters to extend the white and green cable leads for the length necessary to make the connections.

Connection Setups

  • Connections on power meters with rear panel options will differ than those in the illustrations below. Refer to the rear panel of the power meter for connector identification labels.
