System Dynamic Range Test

This test applies to the following models:

N991xA/B, N995xA:

  • Test S21 if Option 210 is installed
  • Test S12 if Option 211 is installed.

N992xA:

  • Always test S21.
  • Test S12 if Option 211 is installed.

This test measures System Dynamic Range for S21 and S12 measurements. System Dynamic Range is defined as: (source maximum output power in dB) - (receiver noise floor in dB).

Single point failures are typically caused by random noise. Repeating the test will usually result with it passing.

In order to save time, the first pass of the test uses 30 averages. If that fails, then it will try at 60 averages. Number of averages used will be shown on a graph label just below S21/S12 on the TME report. 60 averages usually improves measurement by about 2 dB.

  • Only a single representative model will be shown.
  • Some illustrations may differ than those in TME.
  • For procedures that apply to multiple ports, illustrations will show the setup on only one test port.
