Error Terms Verification Utility

This utility applies to the following models:
  • N991xB: Port 1 is always tested. Port 2 is only tested if Option 210 or 211 is installed.
  • N993xB: Only test Port 1 if Option 320 is installed.

  • N9938B: If Option 320 is present, then Option 100 (3.5 mm port connectors) is also required. The utility will abort if Option 100 is missing.

This utility checks the validity of the factory calibration. The open/short/load calibration generates a set of reference corrections in the FieldFox. These corrections are stored in the “Factory Calibration” files. The “Corrected Measurement Uncertainty” graphs which appear in the datasheet rely on these reference corrections to be accurate.

This utility measures S11, and S22 of a calibrated short. If the factory corrections are appropriate, then the resulting S11/S22 measurement will be a flat trace. If the trace looks like a sinewave, then this suggests the correction doesn’t match the short used in the test. If the utility fails, then a new open/short/load calibration should be performed on the DUT.
