Frame (DVB-RCS2)

Frame is a parameter group within the Frame Definition tab containing the following parameters:

Tx Format – Read-only display of the transmission format. Currently only TC-LM is supported.

Tick Rate – Read-only NCR (Network Clock Reference) tick rate. Fixed at 27 MHz Megahertz: A unit of frequency equal to one million hertz or cycles per second. per the DVB-RCS2 standard.

Default: 27 MHz

Symbol Rate – Symbol rate for the selected carrier. The symbol rate can be set to any arbitrary value. In order to provide flexibility for various configurations, Symbol Rate is not coupled with the Tick Rate. Per-carrier support.

When configuring the frame definition, the active burst duration is always defined as an integer number of symbols. When it comes to the gaps between bursts, if all gaps are also integer numbers of symbols, the VSA software will analyze the entire sequence of multiple bursts and gaps as a single frame. However, if any gap has a non-integer number of symbols, the VSA software will only analyze the first active burst. The VSA user interface allows you to configure multiple bursts in such scenarios for flexibility in configuring a variety of frame structures.

Default: 27 MHz

BTU Length (ticks) – Symbol rate for the selected carrier. Per-carrier support.

Default: 600

Frame Length (BTUs) – Super-frame length in BTUs. Per-carrier support.

Default: 12
