Phase Err (Flex Frame)

Phase Err (Phase Error) is the phase difference between the I/Q reference signal and the I/Q measured signal, averaged over all symbol points.

The magnitude of this error data is an indicator of the quality of the phase component of the modulated signal. For example, a very high phase error might indicate high incidental FM Frequency Modulation modulation on the signal.

The phase error shown in the Syms/Errs trace is computed only at the symbol times (the instant in time when symbols are detected). The computation does not include points between symbols. Therefore, the value of Points/Symbol has no effect on this error data.

The Syms/Errs also shows the symbol that has the largest phase error (the peak phase error).
