About the User Interface

A major advantage of using the 89600 VSA software is that it runs on the Microsoft Windows operating system and follows standard Windows practices in its menus and dialog boxes.

The 89600 VSA software creates a "window" on the Windows desktop. This window is fully interactive, permitting you to view and change the various settings directly by the mouse and keyboard. You can usually accomplish the same task in one of several ways; for example, you can change center frequency using the MeasSetup > Frequency dialog box or by double-clicking the center frequency hotspot directly on a trace.

For greater flexibility in viewing measurement results, the 89600 VSA has added a Docking Window system that allows document and tool windows to be arranged in arbitrary positions within the main window and to be "torn-off" from the main window and shown as a separate "floating" windows. The Using the Docking Window Manager topic describes these features in more detail.

The 89600 VSA user interface can appear differently depending on the current settings. For example, you can change the size, color, or even the presence of various display features. See the Display Preferences topic for more information.
