Show Normalized Amplitude (Graph Settings)

Default: Cleared

Show Normalized Amplitude specifies whether the original or normalized amplitude values are shown for the response data in a Graph trace.

During compensation, the response data is normalized by the Gain calculated from the stimulus and response average powers. This is so that the EVM Error vector magnitude (EVM): A quality metric in digital communication systems. See the EVM metric in the Error Summary Table topic in each demodulator for more information on how EVM is calculated for that modulation format. calculations are valid (EVM assumes that any difference between the stimulus and response signals is error, which would include Gain if not removed).

Even though the underlying data is normalized, by default, the AM/AM and Gain Compression traces' Y-axis annotations are adjusted to show the original response power. Selecting Show Normalized Amplitude will instead show the effects of the amplitude normalization in the Y-axis annotations (i.e. no average gain between stimulus and response).
