Using an Keysight Signal Generator as the Stimulus Signal

When you already have a stimulus signal in a supported file format (can be recalled into the VSA as a recording), you can follow this procedure to configure an Keysight signal generator to send your stimulus signal to the DUT Device under Test: An acronym used to describe some type of electrical apparatus connected to test instrumentation. The apparatus can range from a single component to a complex subsystem such as a mobile phone, base station or MSC..

  1. Recall your stimulus file into the VSA as a recording

Click File > Recall > Recall Recording and select your stimulus file.

  2. Connect to the Keysight signal generator

Click Source > Source and choose your Source Configuration.

  3. Configure signal generator

    1. Click Source > Control
    2. Select Enable
    3. Set the RF Frequency for your stimulus signal (should match the VSA's center frequency)
    4. Set desired Amplitude
  4. Download the stimulus signal to the signal generator

    1. On the Source Control tab, click Download recording > Current

    2. You will be prompted by a dialog containing At measurement center/span and Between playback start/stop times. You can leave these at their default settings.

  5. Enable signal generator

Select the RF on check box.
