System Calibration Setup

Steps for System Calibration Setup

  1. Install the RCal utility, found under Hardware Support menu > More Installation Choices in the VSA installer. After VSA is installed the RCal utility can be found under the Tools folder under Program Files for VSA.

  2. Connect the U9361 RCal Receiver Calibrator to a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port on the PC running VSA.

  3. Verify in Keysight Connection Expert that the RCal module has been discovered as a USB instrument.

  4. Connect Ext Ref In on the U9361 RCal Receiver to the same frequency reference as the analyzer to be calibrated.

  5. Connect RF Radio Frequency: A generic term for radio-based technologies, operating between the Low Frequency range (30k Hz) and the Extra High Frequency range (300 GHz). Out on the U9361 RCal Receiver to the input channel of the analyzer to be calibrated.

  6. Create a System Calibrator hardware configuration in VSA using the Hardware Configurations dialog found in the Utilities menu.

  7. Select the System Calibrator hardware configuration on the System Calibration panel found in the Utilities menu.

  8. Set the folder location and filename of the calibration data file to be created by Calibrate. Folder and Filename have no effect on Verify.

  9. Enable/disable existing RF Filter User Corrections during the execution of Calibrate. This has no effect on Verify.

  10. Set the frequency range and number of points within that range where Calibrate will create calibration data points and where Verify will check magnitude flatness and phase linearity. Set the frequency range within the current measurement frequency span if the analyzer has a mixer in the front end.

  11. Set the magnitude and phase thresholds for system calibration verification.

  12. Enable/disable saving of the current setup when Calibrate is executed. This has no effect on Verify.

  13. Execute Calibrate to create an RF Calibration file that is applied as an RF Filter user correction. Verification is performed as the final step of Calibrate

    OR

Execute Verify to check magnitude flatness and phase linearity of currently applied user corrections.
