Making a Time-Gated Measurement (Time Gating)

  1. Start your measurement
  2. Select the Main Time trace data

    Select a trace and from the Trace menu, click Data and choose Main Time.

  3. Enable time gating and select the desired gate region

    1. Click to activate the Gate Marker tool.
    2. Position the Gate Marker tool on the Main Time trace and click the left mouse button.
    3. Drag the gate boundaries to select the desired gate region.
      OR
      From the MeasSetup menu, click Time, then set Length and Delay to select the desired gate region.
  4. In another trace, select the Spectrum trace data to view the spectrum of the gate region.

When time gating is enabled, vertical gate boundaries appear on the Main Time trace. These markers define the right and left edges of the gate region. Dragging the gate markers changes the gate region, which changes the value of the Time Gating parameters.
