Log X-Axis (Trace Format)

The Log X-Axis check box (under Trace, Format) specifies linear or logarithmic x-axis scaling for active trace. When selected, the x-axis uses a logarithmic scale. When cleared, it uses a linear scale.

Eye diagram and I-Q (polar) diagram trace formats always have a linear x-axis regardless of the Log X-Axis parameter setting.

Log X-Axis affects only how the data is displayed. For the same span and resolution, frequency resolution for both linear and logarithmic scales is identical¾both have the same number of points per display. The logarithmic scale simply shows these points on a logarithmic axis.

If two traces are shown and one has a linear frequency axis and the other a logarithmic, marker coupling is still a valid choice and the markers will track bin for bin.

When a logarithmic x-axis is selected, frequency annotation is done in terms of start and stop frequency, not in terms of span and center frequency.
