P-RS (LTE)

P-RS is the Positioning Reference Signal which is used in determining the location of the UE User Equipment (e.g. cell phone) (specifically for E911 service requirements).

The modulation type of P-RS Positioning Reference Signal is QPSK Quadrature phase shift keying.

P-RS is transmitted on antenna port 6 with 15 kHz kiloHertz: A radio frequency measurement (one kilohertz = one thousand cycles per second). subcarrier spacing. P-SS Primary Synchronization Signal, S-SS Secondary Synchronization Signal, and PBCH Physical Broadcast Channel allocations take precedence over P-RS.

P-RS occupies NPRS  consecutive subframes within a frame, with resource element allocation and frame periodicity determined according Section 6.10.4 of TS Technical Specification 36.211.
