PBCH (LTE)

PBCH Physical Broadcast Channel is the Physical Broadcast Channel and is present in downlink signals only. PBCH is transmitted on symbols 0, 1, 2, and 3 of slot 1 and occupies the center 72 subcarriers. PBCH is not transmitted on any resource elements assigned to C-RS Cell-specific RS for antenna ports 0, 1, 2, and 3.

The modulation type of PBCH is QPSK Quadrature phase shift keying.

PBCH contains the MIB part of the MAC (Medium Access Control: In most wired and wireless networks, a mthod is used to control how and when a device can transmit data over the communications link. This is the network's Medium Access Control scheme. The MAC protocol operates within the Data Link layer (Layer 2) of the ISO OSI 7 layer Model. The IEEE 802.11 standard, for example, specifies the MAC protocol for sharing of the wireless medium, packet formats, addressing, eror detection and recovery following errors. layer channel BCH Broadcast Channel. The other part of BCH (System Information Block) is contained in a PDSCH Physical Downlink Shared Channel allocation encoded with the SI Status Indicator-RNTI Radio Network Temporary Identifier.
