Ignore Dropouts (Pulse)
Menu Path:
When Ignore Dropouts is enabled, you can set a time duration, in seconds, where a pulse-off transition must remain below the Pulse Detection Threshold (dBm deciBels referenced to a milliWatt: dB relative to 1 milliwatt dissipated in the nominal input impedance of the analyzer) – Hysteresis (dB) before being considered a valid pulse-off transition detection.
This allows you to specify an Ignore Dropouts time that is longer than the longest expected pulse modulation-induced amplitude dropout time period.
In this way, any pulse modulation-induced amplitude dropouts of duration less than the specified Ignore Dropouts time interval are ignored during the pulse-off detection process, avoiding invalid (false) pulse detection occurrences due to pulse modulation.
When Ignore Dropouts is disabled, any occurrence of a pulse-off transition below the Pulse Detection Threshold (dBm) – Hysteresis (dB) is considered a valid pulse-off transition detection.
If a pulse at the end of a segment ends within the Ignore Dropouts limit, the pulse will be ignored. To prevent the possibility of ignoring a real pulse due to segment length being too short, either increase the segment length or turn off Ignore Dropouts. When Ignore Dropouts is enabled, the segment length should be greater than the maximum expected pulse width plus the Ignore Dropouts limit.
