Signals: Custom IQ

This topic describes the Signal Optimizer's default Favorite Settings for a Custom IQ signal format.

Signal Information

Waveform Name

Enter an alpha-numeric waveform file name. The name can include spaces and some special characters: _ $ & # + - [ ]. The maximum name length is 22 characters for non-Windows based instruments (e.g., N5182A, etc.), and 150 characters for Windows based instruments. (If you enter a name with more than the maximum name length, the software truncates the name to the length when you click outside of the cell.)

Comment

Enter an alpha-numeric comment of up to 32 characters. The comment resides in the file header and can include spaces and special characters.

Number Of Frames

Enter the number of frames included in the waveform.

Range: 1-300

Over Sampling Ratio

Enter the oversampling ratio of the waveform. The Total Sample Points is automatically determined based on the oversampling ratio.

Range: 2-16

Mirror Spectrum

Enable or disable the mirror spectrum for the waveform.

Sample Points

Display the number of sample points in the waveform. This value is read-only and will be automatically updated with waveform setting change. Waveform length is directly related to the oversampling ratio value selected. (Increasing the oversampling ratio increases the total sample points.)

Signal Length

Display the waveform length in seconds. This value is read-only and will be automatically updated with waveform setting change.

Sample Rate

Display the sample rate of the signal. This value is read-only and will be autotmaically calculated from symbol rate and over sampling rate.

Signal Setup

Modulation Type

Selects type of the modulation for the Signal.

Choices: ASK & PSK & QAM | FSK | SOQPSK | ARTM Multi-h CPM

APSK Settings

Symbol Rate

Enter the symbol rate of the signal.

Range: 1k-4Gsa/sec.

Filter Settings

Filter Type

Select the filter type to be applied to the waveform.

Choices: Low Pass | Gaussian | Root Nyquist | Nyquist | Rectangle | APCO25 HDQPSK | Half Sine | User Defined

Alpha

Enter the Alpha factor of the Root Nyquist or Nyquist filter

Range: 0.01-1.0

Filter BT

Enter the BT value of the Gaussian Filter

Range: 0.1-1.0

Bandwidth

Enter the bandwidth for low pass filter

Range: 1kHz-Sample Rate

Filter Length

Enter the filter length in symbols.

Range: 1-2048

Segment 1

Segment Type

Selects the type of the segment.

Choices: Data | Idle

Number Of Symbols

Set the length of the segment in number of modulated symbols. The total number of symbols should be greater than the length of filter.

Range: 1 - 100000

Payload

Payload Type

Selects data type used as payload of the segment.

Choices: PN9 | PN15 | PN23 | Pattern | From User File

Pattern Bits

Enter the payload pattern up to 128 kbits.

User File Name

Enter the file name to load for user-defined payload data.

Constellation

Constellation Type

Selects predefined constellation for the segment.

Choices: OOK | 2ASK | 4ASK | 8ASK | BPSK | QPSK | 8PSK | 16QAM | 32QAM | 64QAM | 128QAM | 256QAM | 512QAM | 1024QAM | 2048QAM | 4096QAM
