Configure PC to PXIe Embedded Controller

This procedure shows how to configure a PC connected to a PXIe embedded controller via LAN.

Connect to LAN

Connect LAN cable between the analyzer and site LAN.

Note: The PC and PXIe system must be on the same subnet or communication is not possible.

Install N1500A Software on PC

Download and install the N1500A software on the PC.

• From Keysight N1500A Series Software Download Page:
• • Connect PC to the internet
  • Click on file down load and save it to a temporary folder on the PC.

Turn Firewall Off on Embedded Controller

• On the embedded controller, turn the firewall off.

Run Network Analyzer Application on Embedded Controller

• On the embedded controller, click the Network Analyzer Icon to run the application.

• Click Utility, System, Configure, then click SICL/GPIB/SCPI.

• Check HiSlip Enabled. Note the HiSLIP address. This will be entered in the Keysight Connection Expert.

• Click OK.

Get the IP Address of the PXIe System

• On the embedded controller, click Windows Start, enter cmd in the Search programs and files text box, then press Enter.
• On the command line, type ipconfig then press Enter.
• Note the IPv4 Address. This will be entered in the Keysight Connection Expert.

Create a VISA Address with Keysight Connection Expert on PC

Note: On the embedded controller, the Network Analyzer Application must be running before connection can be made.

Note: The following procedure corresponds to Keysight I/O Libraries 17.1. This version can be downloaded from www.keysight.com/find/iosuite.

• On the PC, launch Keysight Connection Expert.

• In Keysight Connection Expert, select the Manual Configuration tab.

• In the Add a LAN device pane:

• • Enter the IP address of the PXIe system in the Hostname or IP Address text box.

  • Select HiSLIP. Make sure that the HiSLIP address matches the setting in the Network Analyzer application.

  • Click Test This VISA Address and verify that the connection has been made successfully.

  • Click Accept.

Install License File and Connect Security Key

• Copy the license file emailed to you during the License Redemption Process to:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\Keysight\Materials Measurement Suite\Data and Setup.
  Note: If you haven't received a license yet, you can still use the software for two weeks with the automatically installed Free Two Week Demo License.

• Connect Software Security Key (dongle) to known good USB port on the PXIe. A light on the USB key should illuminate.

Run N1500A Software

• On the PC, click the Keysight Materials Measurement Suite Icon on the analyzer desktop to run software.
• Select Preferences, Select Instrument, then Re-Scan to find new connection if necessary.
