Maximum/Minimum trace hold function allows you to hold the active trace at the maximum or minimum point.
The procedure for setting the maximum/minimum trace hold function is as follows:
Press Display > Data Hold > OFF|Minimum|Maximum
Restart resets the trace.
Restart is only activated when Minimum or Maximum is selected. When OFF is selected, Restart is grayed out.
Maximum/Minimum trace hold can be applied with several conditions:
It cannot be applied to the memory trace.
This function is applied on complex data. As such:
For Smith and Polar formats: Maximum/Minimum trace hold is applied on Absolute data and not on Phase.
For other formats: Maximum/Minimum trace hold is applied on both Real and Imaginary.
When you change the setting that requires the sweep parameter change, for example Number of Points, Start and Stop, all the maximum/minimum hold on traces are cleared.
The maximum/minimum hold on traces is also cleared when the following settings are changed:
Smoothing On/Off
Smoothing Aperture
Gating On/Off
Transform On/Off
Data Math Function (Data/Mem) changed
Conversion On/Off
Conversion Type changed
Equation On/Off
Equation formula changed
Measurement Parameter changed
Maximum/Minimum trace hold cannot be saved or recalled. Even when the maximum/minimum trace hold is turned ON and trace is saved, only the normal trace (Hold is OFF) is stored as trace data.
