Retrans (1)

Sets the re-transmission process of the transport block 1 (codeword 0) for the corresponding PUSCH transmission. (Toggle the new data indicator state or not.)

On: Re-transmission data with next RV index is transmitted. (The new data indicator is not toggled.)

Off: New data is transmitted. (The new data indicator is toggled.)

First transmission of each process is not available to set re-transmission.

For example, when the Number of HARQ Processes is 1 (Assigned Process is 0) and every subframe transmission is on, the re-transmission is not available to the first transmission.

Example: If the eNB receives incorrect data in uplink process #0, it sends a sends a retransmission request (NACK) to the UE. The UE then resends the data that was sent in previous process #0, 8 subframes earlier, starting with the next cycle of process #0. This is done by incrementing the RV Index (1) in the specified sequence (i.e. 0, 2, 3, 1...), up to the maximum number of the retransmission (i.e. a longer Waveform Generation Length, enables a greater number of potential retransmissions). Each complete retransmission can only happen after eight subframes.

Refer to the 3GPP standards, TS36.213 clause 8 and TS36.321 clause 5.4.2 on HARQ operation.
