Trigger Settings (Signal Capture)

Trigger Setup

Trigger Type

Choices: Free Run, Master Trigger, Magnitude
Default Value: On

Sets the mode of signal capture trigger.

Free Run
This choice starts capturing signal data as soon as the Play button is pressed.

Master Trigger
This choice uses external triggers to start the signal capture session, based on the current system settings in the PXB's System > Clock And Trigger panel.

Note: If the system's Trigger Source is set to Software, signal capture will start immediately.

Magnitude
This choice triggers a signal capture based on the power level (trigger value) of the incoming signal. Selecting Magnitude enables the Trigger Value setting.

Trigger Value

Range: 0 to 46340
Default Value: 0
Dependency: Enabled only when Trigger Type is set to Magnitude

Sets the power threshold for triggering a signal capture when Trigger Type is set to Magnitude.

Trigger Time Delay

Range: 0 to (depends on the capture sample rate)
Default Value: 0 s
Dependency: Disabled when Trigger Type is set to Free Run

Displays and sets a time delay for a signal capture to begin after triggering. The delay is in seconds, and this value is also displayed in the Trigger Sample Delay setting in whole samples, based on the Signal Capture Sample Rate setting.

Trigger Sample Delay

Range: 0 to 2147483647
Default Value: 0 Sa
Dependency: Disabled when Trigger Type is set to Free Run

Displays and sets a sample delay in whole samples for a signal capture to begin after triggering. This value is also displayed in the Trigger Time Delay setting in seconds, based on the Signal Capture Sample Rate setting.

Trigger Position

Range: 0 to 100%
Default Value: 100%
Dependency: Disabled when Trigger Type is set to Free Run

Adjusts the position of the trigger relative to the window of sampled signal data, so that you can capture before, after, or on both sides of the trigger event. The PXB continuously stores a window of input sample data (up to 512 MSa, depending on your specified capture depth). trigger position specifies the position inside that window. Trigger position is fixed at 100% when Trigger Type is set to Free Run.
