To view or change the properties of your PXB, you can perform the following
Microsoft Windows XP tasks:
View
or Change the Full Computer Name
Check IP Address
Check the Amount of RAM and CPU Speed
Set Time and Date
Turn Speaker On and Off
Your PXB has a unique computer name that identifies it on a network. To view or change the computer name:
Minimize the PXB user interface.
On the Windows task bar, click Start, then right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
In the System Properties dialog box, click the Computer Name tab.
Click the Change
button next to the To rename this computer...
message.
In the Computer Name Changes dialog box that appears, type your new computer name. Then click OK at the bottom of the dialog box.
The following message appears: "You must restart this computer for the changes to take effect." Click OK.
Click OK at the bottom of the System Properties window.
The following message appears: You must restart your
computer before changes will take effect. Do you want to restart your
computer now? Select Yes or No.

To add your instrument to a domain or to set up the networking configuration, contact your company's IT department. This setup is custom for each company. |
If your PXB is connected to a LAN, you can view the IP address and other networking information by following the steps below:
Minimize the PXB user interface.
On the Windows task bar, click Start, then click Run.
In the Run dialog box, type cmd, then click OK.
At the DOS prompt, type ipconfig /all, then press Enter on your keyboard to display the IP address and other system configuration information.
Random Access Memory (RAM) is the amount of working memory on your instrument's CPU board.
The PXB is shipped with 4 GB of RAM.
The speed of the processor (CPU) is a factor in determining
how quickly the PXB processes data. The PXB is shipped with an Intel
To view the amount of RAM and check CPU speed on your PXB:
Minimize the PXB user interface.
On the Windows task bar, click Start, then right-click My Computer.
Click Properties to
display theSystem
Propertiesdialog box. The General tab is selected by default.
The amount of RAM appears on the General tab at the bottom of the window.
Click OK to
close the System Properties window.

To restore the PXB user interface, click the PXB icon in the task bar at the bottom of the screen. |
Minimize the PXB user interface.
Move the cursor to the lower right corner of the screen
Double-click on the time displayed in the task bar.
This opens theDate
and Time Properties
dialog box.
Change the date, time, and time zone as appropriate, then click OK.
Minimize the PXB user interface.
On the Windows task bar, click Start, then click Control Panel.
From the Category View of the Control Panel, click Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices under Pick a category.
Under Pick a task..., select adjust the system volume.
In the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties dialog box, check the Mute check box, click Apply, and then click OK.
To turn the speaker back on, remove the check from the Mute check box, click Apply, and then click OK.
