5. Frequency Hopping

The basic piconet physical channel is characterized by a pseudo-random hopping through all 79 RF channels. The frequency hopping in the piconet physical channel is determined by the Bluetooth clock and BD_ADDR of the master. When the piconet is established, the master clock is communicated to the slaves. Each slave shall add an offset to its native clock to synchronize with the master clock. Since the clocks are independent, the offsets must be updated regularly. All devices participating in the piconet are time-synchronized and hop-synchronized to the channel.

Double-Click or use the drop-down menu to enable or disable frequency hopping.

Hop Selection

Choice: Selection Kernel | User Defined

Default: Selection Kernel

Double-Click or use the drop-down menu to set the hop selection type. This setting can be edited only when the Hopping State is turned On.

Changing hop selection type will cause an automatic update of waveform 'Oversampling Ratio', 'Frequency' and 'ARB Sample Clock' of signal generator. 

'Selection Kernel’ means that the hopping sequence will be calculated using basic hop selection kernel, which uses ’CLK Start’ and ’UAP/LAP’ as input parameters. ’User Defined’ means that the user input sequence will be used as hopping sequence. Take the default ’0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9’ hopping sequence fro example, the packets will be transmitted on frequency points as following:

CLK Start

Range: 0x0000000 to 0xFFFFFFF

Default: 0x0000000

Enter the starting value of CLK as an input of kernel hop selection. This setting can be edited only when the Hopping State is turned On and Hop Selection is Selection Kernel.

Changing CLK Start will cause an automatic update of waveform 'Oversampling Ratio', 'Frequency' and 'ARB Sample Clock' of signal generator. 

User Sequence

Enter the user defined hopping sequence using comma as separator. This setting can be edited only when the Hopping State is turned On and Hop Selection is User Defined.

Changing CLK Start will cause an automatic update of waveform 'Oversampling Ratio', 'Frequency' and 'ARB Sample Clock' of signal generator. 

Hop Channel

Range: 0 to 78

Default: 0

Couplings: editable only when the Hopping State is Off.

Enter the fixed frequency channel index used for packet transmission.
