Getting the Latest Revision of Help

Keysight frequently updates the Signal Studio online documentation (help system). Your software may not have the latest revision. This topic describes how to access and install the latest revision for your Signal Studio software.

Where to Access the Latest Help

  1. Visit the N7622C product web page.

  2. Click "Get Latest Version" to access the software download page and scroll down to the list of "Supporting Documentation."

  3. Links to both a downloadable compiled help file (.chm) and a web-viewable help system (webhelp) should be listed.

  4. Scroll over the .chm file link to view the date and compare it to the compiled date shown on the main menu page of your software's embedded help.

Installing the Latest Revision of Help in Your Signal Studio Software

If the compiled date of your software's embedded help is earlier than the date shown on the web page, you can update your help file as follows:

  1. Before installing the latest revision of the help file into your software, make sure it still supports the features of your current software revision. You can make this determination by carefully comparing the release notes of your current installed help system with the release notes in the latest help system. If the listed enhancements and bug fixes do not indicate significant feature changes, installing the latest help system is a good choice. Otherwise, you may want to consider downloading the latest version of software instead.

  2. Move the existing embedded help file to a safe place on your PC. This ensures you can restore it later if you discover the new help file does not suit your needs. If you installed your Signal Studio software with the default directories, the help file (n7622.chm) is located in the following directory:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Keysight\Signal Studio\Toolkit.

Some Signal Studio products support both waveform playback (ARB) and real-time application types. In these cases, you have the option of installing both on your PC. The installation process, therefore, creates a separate sub directory for each type: one named Playback and the other Realtime. Identical help files, supporting both applications, reside in each of these directories. Each help file, however, is accessed from its respective application only. Therefore, if you replace the help file in the Playback folder, the help content is updated for the playback software, but the real-time software continues to access the original version. To update both, you have to replace both.

Be careful not to accidentally replace the API help file (APIHelp.chm), if one exists.

  3. Download the latest help file (.chm) for your Signal Studio model from the Keysight website and copy it to the same directory from which you moved the existing help file in the previous step.

  4. Verify that the new help file can be accessed from the software by selecting Contents or Search from the Help drop-down menu.
