Software Problems

Baseband Generator DAC over range

After downloading the waveform, the signal generator displays error: Baseband Generator DAC over range.

Cause: The number of frames and some baseband filter selections (such as NONE) can result in a high crest factor, causing digital to analog converter (DAC) overflow.

Solution: Reduce the runtime scaling value. For example, 50 percent or less.

Signal generator front panel keys do not work

After downloading the waveform, the signal generator front panel keys do not work.

Cause: Downloading the waveform places the signal generator in remote operation, which deactivates the front panel operation.

Solution: On the signal generator, press the Local key to restore front panel operation.

Signal generator does not play the waveform

After clicking Download in the tool bar, the signal generator does not play the waveform.

Cause: The configured bursts may exceed the length of the defined frame or the size of the generated waveform may exceed the Arb memory.

Solution: Click Check Parameters in the tool bar to verify that the configured bursts do not exceed the length of the defined frame. A parameter status window appears displaying OK if the configuration is valid. If there is invalid parameter usage, the parameter status window displays a red error symbol, parameter name, conflict description, and corrective action suggestions needed to modify the frame parameters. All conflicts must be resolved before the waveform can be generated.

In some configurations, the generated waveform size exceeds 8 Msamples. In this case, it isn't possible to transfer the waveform into the ESG with Options 001 or 601 or MXG/EXG without Option 019 or PSG with Option 601. Use an ESG with Options 002 or 602, MXG/MXG ATE with Option 019, PSG with Option 602 for more waveform memory. (You can check your waveform size under Data Points in the Project Property. window.)

"FW version is not valid"

After clicking Test Connection or Test All Connections, "FW version is not valid" appears in the Note column of the Instruments window.

Cause: The current firmware version of the signal generator needs to be upgraded.

Solution: See system requirements for information on updating the required firmware.

"Connection failed"

After clicking Test Connection or Test All Connections, "Connection failed" appears in the Note column of the Instruments window.

Cause: The instrument connection via LAN or GPIB may not be properly enabled.

Solution: Verify that all equipment is properly connected and that any LAN or GPIB interface has been correctly installed and configured. (See Keysight IO Libraries.) Ensure that the GPIB or LAN information that you entered in the Instrument window matches the instrument and interface you are using.

"Restricted User" cannot run Signal Studio application

Cause: When a "Restricted User" tries to run the Signal Studio application without the correct security permissions, an unhandled exception error message indicates that access is denied.

Solution: The administrator must set the correct user permissions in the Signal Studio installation folder. See the instructions in User Permissions.
