Your Signal Studio software license file (*.lic) is a text file that is attached to the email message you receive when you redeem your license. The license file is specific to your PC's Host ID. Embedded waveform-playback licenses, however, are specific to the instrument's model number and serial number.
Before installing the license file, save a backup copy in a safe place.
Save the license file to the root directory of a USB storage device.
PC-Based. Insert the storage device into a USB port of the PC matching the Host ID used in redemption.
Embedded Waveform Playback. Insert the storage device into a USB port of the instrument matching the model number and serial number used in redemption.
The license file should install automatically.
On the PC matching the Host ID used in redemption, start the Keysight License Manager (KLM) software.
You can download KLM at no charge from www.keysight.com/find/licensemanager.
From the KLM software, click the "Tools" icon > Install License File. Navigate to the license file and open it.
The license file should install automatically.
Floating licenses provide the ability for multiple client PCs to use a common license that is stored on a network license server. Also called a concurrent license, floating licenses are bound to the host ID of the license server, but are used by any Client computer running the Signal Studio software with network access to the server (as long as the number of concurrent client users does not exceed the number of granted licenses.) Floating licenses provide the ability to use one license on different PCs (Instruments). The client PC or instrument requests a license from the server to run the Signal Studio software. If a license is available, the server will allocate the license to the client.
This procedure installs the Signal Studio software Floating License system. To ensure a successful installation, make sure you have installed the Keysight Floating License Manager and perform the installation process in the following sequence. If you are using a USB dongle, see USB Dongle License Setup.
