The scrambling code can be set from 0 to 127. In Active Cell operating mode, the Scrambling Code can only be changed when the call status is Idle.
To change the scrambling code while on a connection, you must perform a Physical Channel Reconfiguration. After completion of the Physical Channel Reconfiguration procedure, successful or not, the Scrambling Code setting is overwritten with the value of PCR Target Cell Scrambling Code.
The test set supports the following synchronization codes:
SYNC_DL used for DwPCH
SYNC_UL used for UpPCH
Basic Midamble code
Scrambling code used for both downlink and uplink
All the synchronization codes are divided into 32 code groups. The test set can be set to one of the code groups, along with one pair of scrambling code and basic midamble code within that code group. According to 3GPP TS25.223 8.3, relationship between the SYNC-DL and SYNC-UL sequences, the scrambling codes and the midamble codes are shown as the table below:
