How to Install and Add AXIe Equipment

Remove All AC Power Before Installing Equipment. Remove power from the modular chassis before installing modules in the chassis.

1. Install the software/drivers for modular devices on the host computer. This software is typically on a disk supplied with the modular devices. In some cases, a newer version of the software/drivers are available on the web; go to www.keysight.com/find/<model number> (for example, www.keysight.com/find/M9514A).
   
   
2. Remove all AC power from the PC and any AXIe chassis.
   
   
3. Install modular devices into AXIe chassis following manufacturer's instructions.
   
   
4. Connect interface cables between the PC and modular chassis.
   
   
5. After installing all equipment and connecting cables/interfaces, apply power to the modular chassis first. When the chassis and all modules are fully powered on, then power on the PC. When the PC's operating system starts (boots), the Keysight PXI Resource Manager searches for the PXI/AXIe equipment.
   
   
6. Run Connection Expert to see your AXIe devices in the Instruments view and AXIe chassis in the PXI/AXIe Chassis view.

For PXIe/AXIe Module Developers: The Keysight Modular Driver Wizard

This section contains information specific to the Windows product.

The Keysight Modular Driver Wizard generates device-specific .ini, .inf The .inf file created by the PXI Driver Wizard specifies use of a Keysight generic kernel driver. This driver works for hardware with either a PCI or PCIe(R) endpoint. This driver, together with Keysight IO Libraries Suite, enables applications to call a VISA API and communicate with the device. , and .sys files for a PXIe or AXIe device. These files enable the Keysight IO Libraries Suite to communicate with the device. You can start the wizard from C:\Program Files\Keysight\IO Libraries Suite\bin\Modular\ModularDriverWizard.exe.

Important: The Keysight Modular Driver wizard is intended for use by modular hardware development engineers. It requires knowledge of hardware interrupts and the hardware memory map. If you are an end user (not a module designer) and need a driver for a module, refer to the installation software that came with your modular device instead of using the wizard. If, however, you need to regenerate installation files for the device, you can import the device's vendor-supplied .ini file in the first step of the wizard. After importing, the wizard can generate and install the files for that device.
