Attenuator Accuracy

The Attenuator Accuracy test measures the input attenuation of the instrument at a fixed frequency, and verifies that it meets the published specifications. Attenuator accuracy is the difference between the measured attenuation and the ideal attenuation for each attenuator step.

The signal source is provided by a signal generator tuned to 50 MHz. The source amplitude is adjusted to a reference level as measured by the VSA. The source amplitude remains fixed at this setting throughout the test. The 10 dB precision step attenuator and the input attenuation are switched to various settings. At each setting the signal amplitude is measured and the attenuation error is calculated.
