The Residual FM test verifies that the instrument meets the published specifications for residual FM. The signal source is provided by a synthesized signal generator producing a CW signal. The source amplitude is set to a constant value throughout the test. The FM modulation on the input signal is measured. Then the residual FM is calculated.
