N9935A/36A/37A/38A
This test verifies the FieldFox absolute amplitude accuracy versus input level. The measurement is performed at 50 MHz. A synthesized signal generator and two characterized step attenuators are used as the signal source to the analyzer. A power meter is used to measure a reference power level from the signal source to the analyzer. The precision attenuators are switched to provide a series of signal power levels below the reference power.
The 10 dB and 1 dB step attenuators are characterized at 50 MHz as a composite attenuator. The characterized loss is used to calculate the absolute input power to the DUT. The 1 dB attenuator is never allowed to drop below 5 dB in this test. The reason for maintaining 5 dB is so the mismatch with the cable is well controlled.
