Source Power Test

This test applies to the following models:

  • N995xA: Port 1 is always tested. Port 2 is only tested if Option 211 is installed.
  • N996xA: Only test Port 1 if Option 220 is installed.

This test checks the power level accuracy and power step accuracy of the NA source.

The power level check is performed for various CW frequencies at -15 dBm. Test limits are based on the typical values for Power Level Accuracy.

Power step accuracy is tested at the following increments: 1 GHz, 6.5 GHz, 18 GHz, 31 GHz, 43 GHz, 48 GHz for a range of –5 dBm to –25 dBm. The test limits are based on measurements made on a population of properly adjusted units.

Required Test Equipment

The network analyzer used in this test must be calibrated prior to running the test. The calibration will need to be repeated once every three days or if the connectors or cables have been disturbed. If it's been within the three day time frame and the connectors and cables have not been disturbed, then the network analyzer calibration is not necessary and you may proceed with the test.

For a list of required equipment and calibration instructions to perform the network analyzer calibration, go to the Network Analyzer Calibration Procedure topic page.
