Displayed Average Noise Level Performance Test

Displayed Average Noise Level (DANL) tests the average of the displayed noise. To measure DANL the signal analyzer’s input is terminated with a 50 ohm load. Typically the signal analyzer is placed in zero span, but the PXIe signal analyzer does not allow zero span operation. DANL will be measured in a very narrow span. The trace data will be pulled out of the UUT and averaged across all the buckets. The result is then normalized to 1 Hz RBW by subtracting out the value of 10 x LOG(Test RBW).
