Deviation (Digital Demod)

Deviation is the average deviation of all symbols in the FSK Meas Time trace (determined by Result Length). When there are more than two symbols states, the demodulator uses only the symbols in the outermost symbol states (highest and lowest frequency) to compute deviation.

A symbol's Deviation is the distance between the detected carrier frequency and the measured frequency. This is shown in the following diagram.

Points between symbols are not used to compute the deviation.

Deviation is computed for the following Formats: 2-FSK, 4-FSK, 8-FSK, 16-FSK, and CPM (FM).
