Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset
Default: ON (checkbox is checked)
When the Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset checkbox is checked, the reported per region synchronized (measured and reference) phase trace results are automatically compensated for each specific region's measured mean frequency offset from the current Center Frequency value.
In this way, the per-region measured and reference phase-versus-time trace results can more easily be viewed and compared even if the signal's FMCW region-group pattern contains various frequency hopping LFM regions or power-off (noise only) intervals.
The example below illustrates a signal containing eight unique LFM regions, each defined with a different frequency start/stop (Hz), slope rate (Hz/s) and time length (s). Also, the time intervals between regions 2&3, 4&5, 6&7 are power-off (noise only) intervals. Notice that with Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset enabled, each of the measured regions exhibits the classic parabolic unwrapped phase response expected due to the LFM signal modulation applied.
Note that when Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset is enabled, both measured and reference phase samples are displayed only for samples which fall inside the per region measurement analysis range, as determined by the Exclude During Analysis settings. Additionally the reference phase results are reset to 0 degrees at the nominal region time start of that each detected region (note that the interpolated nominal region time start may fall in between result sample interval trace points).
When Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset is disabled, as shown below, notice that the measured unwrapped phase response now includes the effects of not only the signal's LFM region frequency hopping pattern, but also the signal's power-off (noise only) intervals.
Note that when Compensate Phase Results for Frequency Offset is disabled, all uncompensated measured phase samples are displayed, but the reference phase samples are displayed only for samples which fall inside the per region measurement analysis range, as determined by the Exclude During Analysis settings.
