Optimizing Spectrogram Performance (Spectrograms)
The speed of spectrogram displays can be increased by doing one or more of the following:
-
Use 16-bit color rather than 32-bit color.
-
Decrease the width of the spectrogram (resize the 89600 VSA window).
-
Obtain a video card with more video memory.
-
Increase the amount of virtual memory in your computer.
If the number of frequency points or the buffer depth is changed, the amount of memory required for the spectrogram also changes. If the amount of memory required exceeds the available memory, swapping occurs--the VSA must access the disk during the measurement, slowing the measurement.
