Impulse Response (Trace Data)

Impulse Response displays the impulse response of a system. The impulse response is the inverse Fourier transform of the frequency response.

This trace data is available only when more than a single input channel is selected.

When two-channels are selected, most of the two-channel trace data defines channel 1 as a stimulus to some system, and channel Y as the response from the system to that stimulus. This definition is used to calculate two-channel results such as the frequency response and impulse response of a system.

As mentioned above, the impulse response is the inverse Fourier transform of the frequency response (as shown below). The impulse response represents the (idealized) time-domain response of the system to an input signal that is an infinitely narrow impulse.
