Use Case: Multi-Carrier Signal
When you want to analyze multiple carriers with the same modulation format (such as from a GSM Global System for Mobile Communications: Originally developed as a pan-European standard for digital mobile telephony, GSM has become the world’s most widely used mobile system. It is used on the 900 MHz and 1800 MHz frequencies in Europe, Asia and Australia, and the 1900 MHz frequency in North America and Latin America. base station), you can configure the 89600 VSA to simultaneously perform multiple measurements, one per carrier. In this case, all carriers are contained within the analysis bandwidth of the measurement hardware (Phase-Synchronous (Shared) Acquisition).
Benefits
- Speed - processing done in parallel, multiple CPU cores utilized
- Truly simultaneous - data capture is shared between measurements; you can see interactions between carriers because of time-synchronization.
- Side-by-side results - you can simultaneously view the traces for each carrier.
- Cross-measurement calculations - Trace Math operations can be used to calculate results dependent on multiple measurements.
To simplify configuration when the measurement parameters are similar between carriers, you can use the Duplicate Measurement feature and then just change the center frequency of the duplicated measurement.
