PRS (5G NR/5G-Advanced)
The DL Down Link (forward link: from base station to cell phone) PRS). Unlike GPS Global Positioning System:L A worldwide radio-navigation system that was developed by the US. Department of Defense. In addition to military purposes it is widely used in marine and terrestrial navigation (for example car navigation systems).-based solutions, PRS leverages the cellular infrastructure to provide robust and reliable positioning services. PRS is used by various 5G positioning techniques such as roundtrip time (RTT), angle of arrival/departure (AoA/AoD), and time difference of arrival (TDOA).
panel contains the available parameters for one or more Positioning Reference Signal (PRS). PRS was introduced in 3GPP Rel-16 for downlink-based positioning (Add PRS - Adds a PRS to the transmission. When a PRS is added, a representative button is added at the top of the PRS parameter group.
Remove PRS - Removes the selected PRS.
Clear All - Removes all but the original PRS.
Enable Channels... - Quickly enables and disables the configured PRSs in a single dialog. You can also enable channels individually using the Enabled checkbox at the top of each PRS.
Enabled - Enables or disables the selected PRS. You can also control all configured PRSs using the Enabled Channels dialog.
Default: disabled
BWP ID - Assigns the selected PRS to one of the five available bandwidth parts.
Default: BWP1
Choices: BWP0, BWP1, BWP2, BWP3, BWP4
A Positioning Frequency Layer includes one or more PRS Resource Sets across one or more sites, all with the same carrier frequency and numerology.
PointA Offset (In Subcarriers) - Defines the offset from the Point A of the PRS to the Point A of the carrier. It is supported when the Point A of the PRS is the same as the Point A of the carrier. The offset is measured in subcarriers, and the range is determined by the Start PRB (RB Offset) of the PRS channel and the grid size of the corresponding numerology.
Default: 0
RB Number - Sets the number of resource blocks assigned to the selected PRS. This value specifies the contiguous set of RB starting at RB Offset within the containing resource allocation. The value should be a multiple of 4.
Default: 24 RB
Range: (depends on the DL-BWP RB Number and PRS RB Offset)
RB Offset - Sets the start index of resource block assigned to the selected PRS. This value specifies the RB starting point within the containing resource allocation.
Default: 0 RB
Range: 0 through (DL-BWP RB Number - 1)
Comb Size - Specifies the comb size, which is the resource element spacing in each symbol of the Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) Resource and is configurable between 2 and 12 for Positioning Reference Signal (PRS).
Default: N2
Choices: N2, N4, N6, N12
A PRS Resource Set contains PRS Resources from the same site (one site may have more than one PRS resource set).
Periodicity - Sets the PRS Periodicity (in slots).
Default: 10
Choices: 4, 5, 8, 10, 16, 20, 32, 40, 64, 80, 160, 320, 640, 1280, 2560, 10240, 20480, 40960, 81920
Slot Offset - Sets the offset (in slots) from Slot 0 for PRS Periodicity.
Default: 0
Range: 0 to (Periodicity - 1)
Repetition Factor - Specifies the repetition factor of PRS channels.
Default: N2
Choices: N2, N4, N6, N8, N16, N32
Time Gap - Specifies the offset in slots between repeated instances of a Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) Resource corresponding to the same resource ID within a single instance of Positioning Reference Signal (PRS) Resource Set.
Default: S1
Choices: S1, S2, S4, S8, S16, S32
Each PRS Resource typically corresponds to a beam from the same site.
Sequence ID - Sets the PRS sequence identity.
Default: 0
RE Offset - Sets the PRS resource element offset.
Default: 0
Slot Offset - Sets the PRS resource slot offset.
Default: 0
Symbol Offset - Sets the PRS resource symbol offset.
Default: 0
Number Of Symbols - Specifies the number of PRS symbols per PRS Resource within a slot.
Default: N2
Choices: N2, N4, N6, N12
Power Boosting - Sets the relative power boosting (in dB) of the PRS.
Default: 0 dB
Range: -30 to 30
