Physical Channels Info (Pre-5G)

The Physical Channels Info trace shows the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM Error vector magnitude (EVM): A quality metric in digital communication systems. See the EVM metric in the Error Summary Table topic in each demodulator for more information on how EVM is calculated for that modulation format.), power, and Resource Element (RE) for the channels that are present in the measurement interval.

Physical Channels Info shows information for only the data in the measurement interval.

Data Results

Data Results Description
EVM(dB) or
EVM(%)

EVM is the RMS value of error vector magnitudes for the channel.

The EVM units (dB or %) are specified by the Report EVM in dB property.

All EVM includes Data EVM, Pilot EVM & Preamble EVM, excluding Null EVM.

Pwr(dB)

Pwr is the per-subcarrier power, averaged over all the subcarriers belonging to the physical channel.

All Power includes Data EVM, Pilot EVM & Preamble EVM, excluding Zero EVM.

RE

RE is an abbreviation for Resource Element, where one resource element is a single subcarrier at a single symbol time. The value displayed under the RE column is the total number of resource elements occupied by subcarriers of the specified physical channel or signal that are present in the measurement interval (which is one subframe in Pre-5G mode).

Physical Channel Types

Resource Type Description
Sync

combination of all synchronization signal subcarriers enabled in the measurement interval (PSS, SSS, ESS extended service set: A set of one or more interconnected basic service sets (BSSs) and integrated local area networks (LANs) that appears as a single BSS to the logical link control layer at any station associated with one of those BSSs.).

RS

combination of all reference signal subcarriers enabled in the measurement interval (BRS, ePBCH-DMRS, xPDSCH-DMRS, xPDSCH-PCRS, xPDCCH-DMRS for downlink or xPUCCH-DMRS, xPUSCH-DMRS, xPUSCH-PCRS for uplink).

Data

combination of all user data subcarriers, excluding the reference signal subcarriers, enabled in the measured subframe, (xPDSCH, xPDCCH, xPBCH, ePBCH for downlink or xPUSCH, xPUCCH for uplink) .

xPBCH

Physical broadcast channel subcarriers.

xPDCCH

Physical downlink control channel subcarriers, including the reference signal subcarriers.

xPDSCHn

Physical downlink shared channel subcarriers, including the reference signal(s) subcarriers.

xPUSCHn

Physical uplink shared channel subcarrier, including the reference signal(s) subcarriers.

ePBCH

Extended physical broadcast channel subcarriers, including the reference signal subcarriers.

Null

Null subcarrier data only.

All

“All” EVM is same as EVM result in Summary table. This includes all RS, Sync and Data subcarriers present in the measurement interval, excluding null subcarriers. Note: Number of data subcarriers are normally much larger than RS subcarriers. Therefore, “All” EVM, which is a RMS average of all used subcarriers, will be close to Data EVM.

A displayed value of "***"means no data is available.
