E3238S Time Snapshot
Sharing Data With Other Applications
You can recall (as a recording) time snapshot files saved from the Keysight E3238S Signals Development System. The files can be in either "Signal Capture" or "Big Signal Capture" format (filename.CAP). The files are recalled as recordings, and all normal recording playback features can be applied.
For most recordings, the VSA makes an internal copy of the file to use for playback. For E3238S snapshot files, the VSA does not make a copy because the files are usually quite large and copying them slows down recalling the recording. Because the files are not copied, you must not move the E3238 file while playing it back as a recording.
The following restrictions apply:
-
Time domain snapshot files only.
-
The file size is limited to 2 gigasamples. For files larger than 2 gigasamples, the time recording will be truncated to the maximum allowed.
-
You cannot save files in this format, but only recall as recording for playback.
-
Data is resampled during playback.
The E3238S can create time capture or SDF files, but both types of files will have the same extension (.CAP). To recall a SDF file with a .CAP extension, choose All Files (*.*) in the Recall Recording dialog.
