Phase Error (TD-SCDMA)

Phase Err (Channel Phase Error) is the difference, in phase, between the I/Q reference signal and the I/Q measured signal for the specified Sub-frame, Timeslot, Code Channel and Spread Code Length.

The magnitude of this parameter is an indicator of the quality of the phase component of the modulated signal. For example, a very high phase error might indicate high incidental FM Frequency Modulation modulation on the signal.

The display shows these Phase error values; the RMS (root mean square) Phase Error, the Peak (largest) Phase Error, and the symbol number with the Peak Phase Error.

The description of Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) includes a pictorial diagram that shows how Phase Error is derived.
