Entitlement |
A software license or Software Update Service (SUS) subscription that a customer is entitled to as a result of a PLTS purchase. |
A printed certificate that contains information a customer needs to get an entitlement. There are three kinds of entitlement certificates: 1) Software License and Software Update Service Entitlement Certificate - A customer redeems this certificate in ASM to get a license for their initial software purchase and to automatically register their SUS subscription that was included with their initial purchase. 2) Updated Software License Entitlement Certificate - A customer redeems this certificate in ASM to get a license for updated software. 3) Software Update Service 1-Year (or 2-Year) Subscription Renewal Entitlement Certificate - A customer uses this certificate in ASM to apply a SUS subscription renewal (extension). |

A subscription to the Software Update Service (SUS) entitles customers to download software updates (when available) via ASM at no cost. A customer is entitled to a 1-year SUS subscription with a PLTS software purchase. This initial subscription auto-starts at shipment, and auto-registers in ASM when a customer requests a license file (*.lic). At the end of the year, a 1-year or 2-year renewal subscription can be purchased. This renewal subscription must be activated by the customer in ASM. |
